Executive Director - Physical Plant

Mott Community College is accepting applications for an Executive Director - Physical Plant. This position provides students, staff, faculty, and visitors with a clean, attractive, safe and funcitonal physical environment in which to study and work. They are responsible for strategy, planning, and operations for the College's physical plant and will coordinate and administer department budgeting, planning, construction, operation, and maintenance activities.

Minimum Requirements include:

1.A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Planning, Project Management or similar field.

2.Considerable knowledge of and progressively more responsible administrative and management experience in master planning, institutional and facilities planning, budgeting, cost estimating, fiscal management, capital project development and construction management, risk management and physical plant operations.

3.Minimum of five (5) years of direct managerial experience in facilities management directly utilizing the skills in 2 above.

4.Minimum of three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent with 3 above, as a manager of facilities in a multi-building, multi-campus environment similar to that of Mott Community College utilizing the skillsets outlined in this Job Description.

5.Considerable knowledge of modern management principles, practices and methods with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a large, complex decentralized organization.

Demonstrated knowledge of:

1.Modern management principles, practices and methods with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a large, complex, decentralized organization.

2.Principles and procedures for planning and construction; custodial, grounds and maintenance operations and risk management

3.Utility services and operations for organization similar to the College.

4.Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the various staff trades.

Skills and Abilities to:

• Negotiate and manage contracts and resolve work conflicts. Maintain effective supervisory relationships.
• Direct and manage decentralized OPP supervisors and staff to achieve a high level of performance with high morale.
• Organize and establish priorities for OPP resources to meet multiple and potentially conflicting timelines.
• Make effective administrative and procedural decisions impacting OPP operations.
• Assess compliance and product or service quality of OPP operations and staff.
