Under general supervision, a Senior Water Distribution/Production Operator plans multiple projects and provides lead direction to crews involved in the construction, maintenance and the distribution of potable water for the City's distribution water system.
Senior Water Distribution/Production Operator is the lead level class in the Water Distribution/Production series. Incumbents lead, plan, organize and participate in the work of crews of skilled and semiskilled workers engaged in the construction and operation of water distribution system infrastructures and/or ground water production system infrastructures. Dependent upon assignment, incumbents may be assigned to work weekends, and holidays.
One vacancy currently exists in the Water Operations Department within the Public Utilities Division. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of six (6) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three months.
PAY, BENEFITS, & WORK SCHEDULE
Certificate Pay: Employees in the Class of Senior Water Distribution/Production Operator, who possess a valid D III Certificate shall receive one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) per month.
CITY OF FRESNO (COF) BENEFITS PACKAGE FOR THIS JOB CLASSIFICATION:

*Long-Term Disability: Benefit equal to 66.66% of monthly salary up to $7,500 per month after 30 days of disability; premium paid by COF

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination and does not assure a place on the eligible list. High School Diploma or GED completion; AND three (3) years of full-time work experience in the testing, cleaning, maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, replacement, construction, distribution, and operation of water systems. Possession and continued maintenance of a valid Class C Driver's License.
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade D3, issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board. Failure to maintain the valid certification shall be cause for termination from the class.
Depending on assignment area, the position may require obtaining and maintaining a valid Commercial Class 'A' or 'B' California Driver's License during the entire term of employment. Additional monthly certificate compensation is paid to those who possess a valid Commercial Class 'A' or 'B' California Driver's License
THE SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may consist of a job related Written Examination which will be weighted 100% of your score in determining your eligibility and placement on the eligible list. Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list.
The written examination is designed to test a candidate's knowledge of principles and practices of water distribution and appropriate safety practices; knowledge of local, state and federal statues, codes, rules and regulations governing water systems; basic math principles; ability to apply skills in interpersonal relations; AND tool and equipment identification and usage.

Candidates must achieve a passing score on the written examination to qualify for the eligible list.
Candidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service. Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested. Qualified veterans who pass the examination will have five (5) points added to their final score.
